This quote is from a letter from Robert Frost to his sister Ellen written on New Year's Eve, 1915. In the letter, Frost explains that as he walks along a stream with his dog, the stream has not changed at all from when he first started going there. When he was a boy, he wrote in the letter, the stream was so clear there was no way for him to see any rocks or debris. Now, as an adult, he can see those things. However, the stream is still as good as it was before.
